50th Home Dedication, Santa Clara – October 3, 2009

The dedication of six homes on Gianera Street marked the completion of the 50th home built by Habitat Silicon Valley. Over 300 people attended the dedication to hear the families share the stories of their journey and watch each home sponsor pass the keys to each Habitat home. Laurdes shared the transformation she felt that day. “Our lives are now defined by a ‘before’ and an ‘after.’ Before the Habitat home, and after, Laurdes said. “Our lives before were consumed with worry. Worry about space, our neighborhood and our children’s safety. Our new home means something different to each of us, but it’s truly a dream come true for all of us.” Each family thanked the many volunteers who were in attendance and who had put so much of their time and effort. One person in particular was especially honored, Jim Latshaw, for building all 50 homes. Check out the photos here.
