Green Building Training
This month, I went to a class at the Double Tree Hotel in San Jose hosted by “Green Technology” in collaboration with the C.B.S.C. (California Building Standards Commission). The class explained the “2010 California Green Building Standards Code” which will be enforced in July of 2012.
Basically, there are a bunch of new rules that construction companies need to follow in the coming years that will make homes and buildings more energy efficient and overall better for the environment. It’s actually pretty darn cool. California is leading the country in green construction and Habitat for Humanity Silicon Valley is excited to be involved in construction practices of the future.
Here’s a link to a pdf of the Green Building Code Book (it’s pretty cool!- check it out): http://www.documents.dgs.ca.gov/bsc/CALGreen/2010_CA_Green_Bldg.pdf
