Habitat for Humanity seeks to build lives, families and communities, as well as houses, by working with all who would seek to pick up a hammer and make a dream a reality. Habitat was founded on the goal of bridging theological differences by putting love into action. Everyone can use the hammer as an instrument to manifest God's love.
Habitat founder Millard Fuller called this concept The Theology of the Hammer, explaining, "We may disagree on all sorts of others things, but we can all agree on the idea of building homes with Gods people in need." By partnering with Habitat for Humanity Silicon Valley, congregations of Santa Clara County provide resources for one of the most basic of human needs: decent, safe, and affordable housing.

Thrivent Build 2010
Starting in January of 2010, Habitat for Humanity of Silicon Valley will be embarking on the 4th installment of the Thrivent Builds program on our new development in Morgan Hill. Thrivent Builds are centered around a special partnership between Habitat for Humanity and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and are designed to rally the Lutheran community in the sponsorship and the building of a Habitat Home. This project is made possible by a grant from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, as well as a commitment from the local Lutheran community to contribute ½ the volunteer labor needed for the homes construction.
Lutheran volunteer days will be at our Morgan Hill site on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month. Individuals, as well as groups of about 15 are welcome as volunteers.
If you are interested in more information on Thrivent Builds, or would like your congregation to get involved, please contact Andrew Condon, Faith Relations Coordinator, at (408) 942-6444 X 312 or ACondon@hfhsv.org.
